Sort yourself out! Bucko
This is Jordan Peterson's general mantra. And it's a good one. So good that it deserves to be unpacked right down to specific conditions of its embodiment.
A lot of people make the claim that it can't be unpacked any further because the state of being "sorted out" varies per individual. And there's some truth to that. But there are definitely sorts that can be abstracted and made common for all individuals.
I believe there is some kind of standard list of measurements that we can use to determine how sorted out we are.
It's something like this -
Is your bed made right now? (being in bed counts as no) |
Yes | No |
Is your room sorted out?
|
Yes | No |
Do you floss every day? | Yes | No |
Do you have undealt with badge icons on your phone? | Yes | No |
Do you have emails that you haven't dealt with in days? | Yes | No |
Are your computer files orderly?
|
Yes | No |
Do you drink alone? (more than once every few months) |
Yes | No |
Do you enjoy small talk? | Yes | No |
Do you feel depressed? | Yes | No |
Do you meditate every day? ("real, dedicated, focused meditation") |
Yes | No |
Do you feel like you use all the best tools to manage your life? | Yes | No |
Do you feel guilty after eating decadent foods, like pizza and ice cream? | Yes | No |
Do you feel like your life has a purpose? | Yes | No |
